Introduction to Geothermal Systems Technology

AKA "Ground Source Heating & Cooling Training Session for Professionals & Students"

This course is a comprehensive, high-level overview of what is needed to understand how geothermal heating and cooling can work for a given building. Topics include a geothermal design overview, variations in ground source heat pump ground loop systems, how to choose the right geothermal HVAC system, and evaluating the benefits of geothermal systems.

This course begins with the basics of HVAC and heat transfer, and moves comfortably into the application of geothermal heating and cooling systems of all kinds

The trainings are designed for architects, engineers, building owners, facility managers and students in relevant fields to learn more about geothermal heat pumps.

  • Geothermal System Design Overview
  • Variations Earth Loop Systems
  • Choosing the Right Geothermal System Type
  • Evaluating the Benefits of Geothermal Systems
  • Applications of Geothermal Systems (Case Studies)
  • Understand the context and verbiage of the (geothermal) technology
  • Identify the importance, adaptability, and benefits of the technology as vital to infrastructure and building construction
  • Understand why the technology is important to health, human safety, and imperative industry goals
  • Internalize our collective capability and responsibility to make these changes
  • Leave with the intent to offer, specify, & apply the technology in every application going forward

The goal of this training is to provide attendees with a high level of confidence in well-designed geothermal HVAC systems, such that they would be comfortable with its implementation in every reasonable situation. A cross-section of different case studies is presented to promote confidence of the attendees in geothermal HVAC technologies.
