Accreditation Renewal Information

Accreditation for IGSHPA Accredited Installers and Certified Geothermal Inspector is valid for three (3) years.

During those three years, an installer must accumulate nine (9) continuing education units (points) to renew the accreditation. The points can be accumulated in three ways – through employment, and/or membership in relevant organizations (GEO, NGWA, PPI, etc.), and/or education.

Points can be accumulated in the geothermal, drilling, or HVAC fields. OSHA training is also acceptable for education points. If you are unable to accumulate the required nine (9) points or if you have questions, contact IGSHPA.

Online CEUs Now Available

IGSHPA is pleased to announce that certified professionals can now earn CEUs online through the IGSHPA website. Certified professionals can earn .2 CEUs per hour of videos watched with an online quiz passing grade of 100%. To gain access to the videos to earn CEUs, visit to register for the video site.

For your IGSHPA certification renewal, you will need a total of 9 CEU’s, 7 of which can be achieved through employment and relevant organization membership (GEO, NGWA, PPI, etc.). Two CEUs can be accumulated by watching online learning videos or other educational sources. Access to these videos is FREE until December 31, 2020.

Renewal Lapses

  • Within 1 year of expiration – Renewal fees + CEU’s
  • 1 – 2 years – $100 Reinstatement fee + Renewal fee + CEU’s
  • 3 – 4 years – $200 Reinstatement fee + Renewal fee + CEU’s
  • More than 5 years – Retake class + Exam – ( )
